From 11 to 13 November Moscow’s “Red October” complex was filled with work by emerging artists as part of the Martini
Art Weekend, organised by Martini’s Russian office. 66 young artists were given the opportunity to share their painting, drawing, illustration and photography at the exhibition.
On November 14, the annual graduate awards ceremony for the graduates of the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes of the University of Hertfordshire was held in the cathedral city of St Albans. This year fifteen British Higher School of Art & Design students received Bachelor of Arts degrees.

15 International art fair ART MOSCOW presents an exhibition Translate/Transcribe, curator Ian Gonczarow, course leader of Fine Art, British Higher School of Art&Design. This exhibition of young and emerging artists from the UK will be the first show of it’s kind for Russian art audiences, highlighting new ways in which orthodoxy and acceptability may be challenged.
The Annual Show of Fashion Design graduates’ major collections was held on the School's roof on July 9. It concurrently brings together professionals in the fields of design and production and reveals new names in the contemporary fashion industry.
When it comes to Russian design competitions, British Higher School of Design students appear to have the edge over others. Perhaps even more importantly, their success extends to international arena. In June we received notification of several of our students’ victories in prestigious design competitions including: the D&AD Student Awards, Post It Awards and Kreata.
This year BHSAD's annual student and graduate exhibition was held from 11 to 14 June at the Design Centre ARTPLAY. It was large enough to cover an expansive three floor building - absorbing ARTPLAY'S vast exhibition hall and a significant part of the school's studios and lecture halls. The exhibition featured over a thousand design and art works, hundreds of portfolios and sketchbooks, plus dozens of video installations. This quantity of student work in one location had never been previously seen in Moscow.
The Fashion Design Course Leader, Clare Lopeman, is launching her S/S 2011 Collection. For her SS 2011 Lookbook Clare commissioned Russian CGI artists to recreate a 3D virtual Soviet Resort based on vintage imagery from the late 1950’s and early 1960’s.
From 9th February up to the end of 2011 a series of lectures and master-classes led by BHSAD tutors is to take place in Garage Center for Contemporary Culture. A new lecturer will share experience, outline the burning questions in their industry and discuss them with participants twice a month on Wednesdays.
